about

Altered Destiny is a genre-defying charity compilation EP that takes listeners on a cosmic journey through the lens of black music producers and visual artists, with more surprises to come. This futuristic collection of electronic beats, synths, and experimental soundscapes explores the intersection of black culture and science fiction, highlighting the creative visions and perspectives of black artists who are boldly exploring the bounds of their creativity.

The compilation also features cover art created by Kaleidokitty in a piece that honors their indigenous Nandi heritage and was remixed by the incredible New York-based artist, Nichole Washington (nicholewashington.com). The art complements the otherworldly soundscapes by nodding to Afrocentric iconography while being woven with visual spells. A forthcoming video will invite listeners to explore new dimensions, bridging the gap between the music and the fantastical worlds it evokes.

By purchasing "Altered Destiny," listeners not only get to experience the innovative work of black artists in the electronic music space, but they also support a vital initiative that is more important than ever given the disturbing trend of anti-trans legislation sweeping across the U.S. The Omaha-based organization, Black & Pink, recognizes the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults who have been impacted by violent carceral systems such as incarceration, detention, foster care, and family surveillance.

Therefore, Black & Pink is working to establish The Opportunity Campus, a housing and community space in Omaha that will provide system-impacted LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults with a range of support services, including housing, mental health support, daily drop-in services, and community programming. All services at The Opportunity Campus will be provided at no cost to residents and members, allowing them to live their lives and achieve their dreams on their own terms. All proceeds will be donated to Black & Pink. If you'd like to donate directly to the organization, you can access that here: secure.everyaction.com/W7GaCsYPjkWvrqHgHO5AXA2
